Suzie + Charlie // Wheatham Farm, Liss

Country Marquee Wedding – Private Estate, London

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE YOUR VENUE FOR YOUR WEDDING?

We were lucky that the farm was family owned and after original France plans being cancelled, we were very fortunate to have such a stunning location as a back up. It was where Charlie grew up so was not only beautiful but personal – and came without a corkage fee!

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE JUNO WEDDING FILMS TO DOCUMENT YOUR WEDDING?

The footage we had seen seemed to capture a variety of different themes and genres. The material was shot beautifully and was put together seamlessly. Dan was so down to earth and really seemed to click with our brief when we originally chatted on zoom. He was also very sensitive to the fact our wedding had been arranged three times so made everything as easy for us as possible.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS DO FOR A LIVING, WHATS IMPORTANT IN LIFE TO YOU, HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR DAYS?

I (Suzie) am a Veterinary Surgeon so have a jam packed day, full of different people and pets which is always entertaining, but with some pretty long and tiring hours. Charlie retired from a 13 year career in professional rugby to move into the world of banking, which also eats into a lot of his time. Time off is spent either walking the dog, riding horses (suzie)/play golf (Charlie) or keeping fit – with of course some down time and travelling. Family and friends are very important to us, we spend a lot of time with them and love hosting a party! We do our best to see the positive in things, trying not to get to bogged down but things too easily – life is too short – as much as Covid tried to do that with wedding postponements.

THE PROPOSAL, HOW DID IT HAPPEN, THE DETAILS?

After clearly a long time planning, Charlie had decided on a weekend and had a plan firmly in place. However, as I always do best, I was determined to scupper that plan, unintentionally. We ended up rescuing our dog Dori on the Friday before what would have been the proposal weekend. There was much insistence by me that this was when we had to pick her up, abs much push back from Charlie not knowing why I was suddenly (within a week) on a mission to get a dog. But, of course I got my way and with a puppy in the house, Charlie didn’t get a look in so the plans were postponed. The following weekend Charlie was at the farm and it has been snowing, it was early Feb 2019. I was still with my horse in Surrey when I got a call from Charlie insisting I come down to the farm to see the snow. Once there, we set off on a walk up a hill to a spot called Cobbets View – that looks over the same view of our wedding field. We had the puppy with us, snow and a crisp, sunny day. We took a seat on the bench to take it all in and next thing I knew, Charlie was down on one knee.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DID YOU WANT YOUR GUESTS TO HAVE FROM YOUR WEDDING DAY?

One hell of a party!!! And for everything to run seamlessly and none of their needs not be met!
